Welcome to The Black Bull Inn, a privately owned free house pub restaurant with bed & breakfast accommodation that has resided at the heart of the pretty historic village of Balsham, Cambridgeshire since the 16th Century, taken over earlier this year to be run alongside its sister pub, The Red Lion Hinxton, by landlord Alex Clarke, operations manager, Mike Champion and excecutive head chef, Chris Woodward.
A Grade II listed building provides the setting for the original bar with leather sofas and well-stoked fire, as well as the restaurant, an adjoining converted barn.
There is a dining patio out front under parasols and the eaves of the thatched facade and a cosy south-facing beer garden at the back.
The five guest rooms are in a separate new building just off the main pub and have been refurbished to exacting the same exacting standards as The Red Lion. All are double en suite with internet access.
Our pub restaurant menu is a mix of contemporary and traditional dishes. All our dishes are cooked to order using primarily fresh local produce.
We have forty wines by the glass and four beers on the pumps (three permanent and one rotating guest ale)
There is plenty of PARKING for our guests.
We are proud to have already been invited to be listed in the industry bible, The Good Pub Guide – the first time the Black Bull has made it into this publication – to join our long-standing Good Beer Guide entry. This is a great credit to our team. We hope to be able to add AA and other accreditations to these shortly.
We are reliant on feedback from our customers to ensure that future visits are even more enjoyable. You can do this by filling out the form on our contact page – we’d be delighted to hear from you (and we will enter you into the monthly draw).
You can be sure of a warm welcome and a friendly atmosphere at The Black Bull Inn, whether you are looking for a traditional pub restaurant meal, a quiet drink or bed & breakfast accommodation and we look forward to seeing you soon.
